They Work Fast

I had the 'class' today, so boring. But I've got my actual appointments tomorrow, 1 with the nurse for the history and everything and another with a doctor so I can finally get some answers as to how everything is going to work.

On another topic the hospital is amazing. They showed pics of the NICU, it's so nice! I wish we could've been there last year when Adam was in. Besides that it's pretty new so everything is up to date and should be able to handle everything. Yes, I am expecting this baby to go to NICU, I'm thinking that we'll probably go at least 4 weeks early.

Now if I can just make it through the next 3 weeks without losing this little one.

Thoughts For Today

It seems like it took forever to get here; we found out 2 weeks ago. I have my 'class' today, that should be interesting.

The baby below looks better than the one to the left, maybe it's just the position of it. It's starting to get that curved shape, pretty soon it'll look like the little thing in my widget.

Day 23~ 5w2d

The development that began yesterday continues today: the baby's jaws are appearing, the lung buds are forming, circulation is being established in the mesoderm and yolk sac, the lining of the placenta is developing, and the somites are forming. While the baby's physical appearance changes, its size changes, too-it gets bigger everyday.

Finger Update

It sucks. I've torn a couple of them, even with being all strapped up. Not bad, I think the guy just made them too far over. It looks like it's healing pretty well though, I should be cool to get them out on Thursday.

Anyway here's 2 more pics. 1 of my get-up and the other of my stitches.

It's really hard to take pics 1 handed.

Day 22~ 5w1d

Between week 4 and week 8 (from conception), the development of the baby's facial features takes place. Five folds of tissue accumulate at the base of the head to provide the raw material for the chin, cheeks, upper jaw, and ears. Two arches form that will become the upper and lower jaws. The groove of tissue that will form the larynx (voice box) and trachea (windpipe) appears. Five more pairs of somites have formed. Now eight pairs of somites are present, and the neural tube (later called the spinal cord) will begin to form between them. The chest and abdominal cavities are continuing to form. Lung buds (tissue from which the lungs will form) appear in the chest cavity. If the baby's heart didn't begin to beat yesterday, it will start today. Circulation is beginning to develop in the mesoderm, the yolk sac, and in the lining of the placenta.

The baby's body measures about 1/4 inch (6.4mm) long (the size of a split pea). The heart (a U-shaped tube at this point) is noly .1 of an inch (2mm) long when it begins to beat.

Dreams

About 3 years ago I had some dreams. 2 came true, the 3rd hasn't, yet.

1. I'd have a 2nd D&C, little did I know I was about to have my second miscarriage.
2. I'd have a baby girl, DD was born in April 2005
3. I'd have a 3rd miscarriage at 6-8 weeks; which hasn't happened. And which is why I will be terrified til I get to 9 weeks, hopefully.

Last night I had another dream. I had had a c-section and was shopping for clothes for a baby girl.

My only other gender dream was with DS#2, shortly after it was confirmed that I was right (I dreamt that he was a boy). I was so sure that he was a girl, the dream threw me a bit. I've actually been thinking this one is a little boy.

I guess we'll see if I'm right again. Miscarriage or baby girl, only time will tell.

Symptoms For Today

I am exhausted, and it's only 3. Not only that but the nausea has been kicking a bit more strongly today, couldn't even finish lunch.

And I tested again. I have 3 tests left, a digital, a Fact Plus and a FRER. I took the other FRER today. Will post the pic later, it's funny. The lines are reversed, usually the control line is the darker one, and my test line is darker. Makes me feel good.

Fact Plus

Here's the other test from yesterday, 20dpo.

Day 21~ 5w

Four primitive chambers are forming in the baby's heart. Three pairs of somites are now present along the spinal column. The cavities of the chest and abdomen are forming. The baby now measures about 1/8 inch (1.5-2.5mm).

In Other News

I got 5 stitches today, and no I will not tell you how I cut myself. It's too embarrassing. Seriously the guy at UCC was laughing at me. I'll update with a picture of the stitches later, to the right is my cut before it got closed up. Sorry for the bad quality, dh took it and he's not too good with the camera :P

Testing, Testing...1..2..20

Yes that's right; I took more tests. Another digital and a Fact Plus, which I haven't used before.

Top is 10dpo
Bottom is 20dpo

Big difference, which is good!

Will post pics of the other later.

Day 20~ 4w6d

The next 30 days mark a critical period in the development of your baby's heart. While the heart itself consists of just 2 heart tubes, it has been joined to blood vessels in the baby's system. The next 10 days mark a critical period in the development of the central nervous system. The mesoderm is now dividing into matched pairs on either side of the spinal column. These matched pairs of tissue called "somites" will eventually form the bones and muscles of your baby's head and body. Today, the 1st pair of somites will appear and 38 pairs of somites will form between now and day 30. The thyroid gland, eventually located at the base of the neck on either side of the windpipe, is also beginning to form. Today was a big day in the development of your baby's muscles, bones, and heart.

By this time, the amniotic sac is about the size of a grape.

Symptoms and Whatnot

Still feeling fine. Starting to get a bit more tired in the late afternoon, still getting sick after I eat. Nothing new really.

My first ultrasound is scheduled for 6 August, bright and early. I'm praying for a heartbeat.

My doctor had said that he wanted me on heparin, now that he's seen my records he just wants me on the folic acid and BA.

Oh To Be An Embryo

The baby is starting to look a bit more interesting. This is the picture for days 19-21.

It's amazing that it changes so much in such a short amount of time.

Day 19~ 4w5d

The fold of tissue that will form the baby's head can now be identified. The baby's body is beginning to unfold. The baby measures between .04 and .o6 inch (1.0-1.5mm) from head to tail.

Thursday, July 26, 2007

Day 18~ 4w4d

Besides forming the baby's first blood cells, the cells that create the blood islands also form channels called heart tubes. The heart tubes are fusing together - the first step in forming the baby's primitive heart, which will circulate the blood cells throughout the baby's body.

Days 17-19

So I found some pictures of what the embryo actually looks like, so here it is for days 17-19.

That's some pretty crazy stuff.

To think that that, turns into a cute little baby.

Amazing.

4 Week Belly Shot

I've decided to throw caution to the wind and start taking belly pics now. So here's the first:

4 Weeks

I'll save you the horror that is my bare belly.

4w3d

Obviously the 'baby' looks nothing like the thing floating in the widget over there ---->

Still feeling pretty good, I did get some nausea this morning after I ate; which seems to be when I get sickly feeling.

Still working on getting my ultrasound, my doctor is in surgery today, the nurse is leaving a note for him. We'll see what happens.

And I peed on another stick today.

Day 17~ 4w3d

Another group of cells is migrating to the baby's head to form the 'notochord,' which gives rise to the vertebrae, or the bones of the spine. The cells in the notochord release a chemical that causes a dramatic change in the size of the cells in the ectoderm. These top-layer cells grow rapidly and form a thickened area area called the neural plate, which will develop in the next few days.

1 Whole Day

Without peeing on a stick. Yes! I'm going to try and not test tomorrow as well, I'm hoping for a ridiculously dark line on Thursday (18dpo).

I will be testing with a couple of 'name brand' tests next week.

Stay Tuned...

Day 16~ 4w2d

A groove is forming within the primitive streak through which cells will migrate to form 3 layers of tissue: the endoderm, the mesoderm and the ectoderm. All of the baby's cells and organs will form from these 3 tissue layers.

POAS Obsession

I just love seeing those lines show up. Yep I bought another test today, it's got a nice line too.

Fun Info

Dates and Numbers

There are 250 days until your due date on March 30, 2008.
You are 30 days pregnant.
You are 1 months pregnant.
You are in your 1st month of pregnancy.
Your 1st trimester: June 24, 2007 to September 22, 2007. (0-12 weeks)
Your 2nd trimester: September 23, 2007 to January 5, 2008. (13-27 weeks)
Your 3rd trimester: January 6, 2008 to March 30, 2008. (28-40 weeks)

4 Weeks

I've reached my first milestone; 4 weeks. I'm 'late' and officially pregnant. At this point I don't have too many symptoms; I'm more tired, getting a bit nauseated, my boobs kill and my face is breaking out, badly. No problems so far, but it's still really really early.

Tests From 9dpo to 15dpo

They've certainly changed.

Day 15~ 4w1d

The "primitive streak" appears (this is the forerunner of the brain and spinal cord). It is now possible to identify the head and tail sections of the baby's body.

Sunday, July 22, 2007

Day 14~ 4w

THe chorionic villi are now fully formed. The amniotic sac, amniotic cavity, and yolk sac have also completed their development.

Saturday, July 21, 2007

Day 13~ 3w6d

Growth of the embryo continues to be rapid. Over the next 2 days, the chorionic villi appear (this is the tissue that lines the placenta). It is also the tissue that may be sampled if a chorionic villi sampling (CVS) is performed. CVS is a diagnostic procedure used to asses the baby's health and well-being in the first trimester.

Tests From 9dpo to 12dpo

Day 12~ 3w5d

The amniotic sac, amniotic cavity, and yolk sac are well along in their development (the 4th day of their 6 day development). The sac is called a yolk sac even though it contains no yolk and no nutrients. Your embryonic baby measures between .006 and .008 of an inch in length (0.15-0.20mm). 5 embryos could fit into the space of this printed period: .

A Scare

I had my first scare yesterday. Because I have a huge amount of tests I'd been testing twice a day, the afternoon test was darker than the morning one, except for yesterday. And it Freaked. Me. Out.

I took another one a few hours later and it was darker than the afternoon one. Made me feel better.

In The Beginning

This baby is, somewhat, a miracle. All babies are miracles but this one is just a bit more special.

You see my dh had a vasectomy in the beginning of May. Pathology came back and they took out what they were supposed to, and yet, he was still testing with swimmers at the end of June, almost 2 months later.

Dh told me he wants another baby; something which he's never, ever, said before. He said 'let's see what happens'.

I got my bfp at 9dpo.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I didn't think it was a bfp at first. I had a doctor's appt that morning, to see if it would be ok if I got pregnant again. He ordered a blood test because of my *maybe line* and it was positive.

I still didn't believe it.

At 10dpo I took more tests.

That's pretty convincing.

Introduction

I've just found out (a few days ago) that I'm pregnant for the 6th time, hoping for baby #4.

This is my pregnancy blog.
